This
also comes under the ten Divya Desams lying on the banks of river Tamraparani
and close to Tirunelveli town. It is situated in the thick forest infested with
wild animals and hence only pious Vaishnavate alone visit bearing hardships. The
priests also live in nearby safe and convenient places after attending to
regular prayer services. Darsan is made available only during prescribed
timings. The Moolavar Vijayasana Perumal is in sitting posture and facing east.
The Goddess is called Varagunavalli, and the Vimana, Vijayakoti which is quite
enticing. The thirtha is called Agnithirtha. The lord lifted Agnideva from the agonized
situation and blessed him to his satisfaction. Nammalwar dedicated his
Pasuramala on his visit. Daily worship is offered with great devotion and
periodical festivals are celebrated with rituals due.
It
lies at about a kilometer and half from Srivaikuntam railway station in Tamil
Nadu.
