Hindus seldom use this forum to examine what religions really teach.
Hindus are satisfied with a few words of tolerance from everyone, as
if it actually meant something, even though the actions of other
religious groups against Hindus continue. Hindus will not dare to
ask representatives of missionary religions why they are continuing
in their unholy conversion efforts and when they will bring this
intolerant and demeaning practice to an end!
In fact most of the time Hindus invite members of a liberal or mystical sect of Christianity or Islam, which doesn't represent the majority of believers at all, to prove the tolerance of these traditions, as if these people were actually speaking for their religions as a whole. In short Hindu exercises in the unity of religions are mainly for the Hindu community and maintaining their fantasies. They have little impact upon other religious groups and result in little real dialogue on the issues that matter. The main tolerance today for Hinduism that comes from Christian and Islamic groups is political rather than religious. It is not based upon acceptance of Hinduism on religious grounds but on the political need to relate to, trade with, or ally themselves with Hindus or India. Such is the basis of the friendly relations of India with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Europe or the United States. While counter culture elements in the West, like the New Age movement, have some appreciation of Hinduism, the mainstream media remains full of distortions and is against these counter culture movements as well. Similarly Islamic countries do not Hindu religious activity within them, except for Hindu workers from India and make sure they keep their religious practices in private. |
