HINDUISM UNDER SIEGE AND RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE
Missionary groups take such Hindu tolerance as a sign of weakness and vulnerability to conversion, a half-heartedness in their own beliefs. They don't see Hindu tolerance so much as spiritual but as confused. On the other hand, Christian missionary groups are not allowed to function in Islamic countries and so they leave them alone. What should this tell Hindus about the effects of their tolerance?

Hindus are under siege even in India in part because, unlike other religions, they make too great an effort to welcome and honor all beliefs, even if these are hostile. In the battle over religion Hindus are trying to make a unilateral peace with the very forces that are moving against them. This waving of a white flag not surprisingly is interpreted as surrender and only encourages more assaults.

What is particularly strange is that many Hindus are so taken in by the all religions are good propaganda that attempts by Hindus to defend themselves against missionary aggression is perceived by Hindus, particularly in India, as intolerance on the part of Hindus! Hindu politicians cater to foreign religious leaders in order to appear secular and tolerant in India. Many Hindu politicians and religious leaders take pride in having their picture taken with the Pope, for example, even though the Catholic church states that Hinduism and its yogic traditions are inferior to Christianity and has promoted an agenda for converting all Hindus to its belief.
