HINDUISM UNDER SIEGE AND RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE
Eastern religious groups can operate in secular Western countries but as minorities, who must always be careful about offending the majority, and which seldom maintain any conversion efforts or have the funding for them. Western missionary efforts in Eastern countries have a long history and much economic might to support them. Clearly they have not only the head start but a greater power in the race, which is why they are stilling willing to run it. On a level playing field, in which they are likely to lose converts, they would quickly put an end to the game.

Perhaps the exception in this regard is Islam in America which is now showing a more aggressive missionary face in the country, particularly among Blacks and it does have some funding to back it up from Islamic oil money. In this case Christians are beginning to see the kind of religious aggression that they have long directed against other groups, including using the downtrodden as an instrument to convert a country.

Therefore this new tolerance in religion is usually a pseudo-tolerance, with intolerant proselytizing groups playing the game of appearing tolerant but doing little to justify the claim in their actions. The problem is that Hindus are lulled to sleep but such exercises in pseudo-tolerance. Hindus equate talk of tolerance with tolerant action, which it is certainly not. True tolerance is measured by one's ability to leave those who think differently alone, not by being pleasant to others while still trying to convert them in one way or another.
