Foreign
religious groups are very concerned about the state of their
minority religious groups in India. Islamic and Christian groups
carefully monitor the condition of Muslims and Christians in India,
try to support them, to prevent their reconversion to Hinduism, and
protest against any discrimination against them. The same groups
have little concern for Hindu minorities in their own countries,
which in the case of Islamic countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh
are routinely oppressed.
Where they are a majority they target their Hindu minorities for
conversion. Yet Hindus never challenge them on their double
standard. They do not criticize their poor treatment of Hindus or
the distortions about Hinduism that are prevalent in their media.
Therefore the question arises, as
Hinduism remains under siege by missionary religions, why should
Hindus quietly tolerate these missionary efforts under the guise of
religious harmony?
Hindus must be very careful in
proclaiming the unity and value of all religions when certain
religions are still attacking them. When a country is under siege or
when foreign armies are occupying it, it is silly for the country to
talk about tolerating and respecting the hostile invaders, trying to
make them feel at home and or honored in what they are attempting!
On the contrary, the people of the country must arise to defend
their land and culture, and condemn the aggressors as wrong and
immoral. |
