Should Hindus Create
Missionary Movements?
This would probably be
better than for them to idly sit by while less spiritual ideologies
spread, with little scrutiny, all over the world and in India
itself. Yet Hindus need not try to remake Hinduism in the image of
militant Islam, the Catholic Church or evangelical Christianity.
These groups may have better succeeded socially but they have
generally failed in the spiritual quest which is what is of ultimate
importance.
Hindus should create
educational movements all over the world promoting Yoga, Vedanta,
Ayurveda, Jyotish, Sanskrit, Indian music and all aspects of the
greater culture of Sanatana Dharma. They should set up teaching
centers, schools and universities, retreat centers, and service
organizations. While maintaining the diversity of Hinduism, Hindu
groups should support one another and also work with any group that
accepts dharmic principles and is willing to live according to them.
