Due to misunderstanding, Vali drove out Sugriva and made Tara his wife. Unable to combat, Sugriva living in this hills, when Sri Rama became his ally after realizing the injustice meeted out to him. He was crowned after the death of Vali at the Hinds of Sri Rama. Later in the war against Lankeswara, Sugriva's part was indeed memorable. All his army, resources etc. were pressed into service to bring back Mother Sita to Ayodhya. Thus this region was made holy doubly by the divine association. In the Kaliyuga too its glory was shot up into firmament when Acharya Vidyaranya chose this for meditation. From the day of Hakka and Bukka met him first, its history took a new direction. From then began a glittering period that attracted universal attention and wring eternal veneration. It occupied proudly a small but significant niche in the temple the history of the world is on account of its spectacular achievements in the realms of religion, literature, sculpture etc.
