LORD VIRUPAKSHA OF HAMPI

Fine arts shone as fine arts by his personal involvement and liberal patronage. And he was renowned as the Sahiti samarangana chakravarthi for weilding sword and pen with equal facility and efficiency that the history has very few equals to place beside him. He authored many immortal works in Telugu and Sanskrit, the major work being Amukta Malyada. His court was adorned with Ashtadiggajas - eight elephantine poets of eternal fame, whose productions excelled the unexcelled master pieces of the bygone day: and gained a covetable place among the books of all times. And so the empire reached the zenith of glory due to all round development, after his military conquests against the neighboring kings. His amicability and refined relationship with foreigners, like Portuguese etc. was remarkable and was eulogised in their books.

The Vijayanagar style of temple construction reached the pinnacle of glory, by the impact of his powerful personally and later it passed for an inimitable style. And many likes came after this, imbibing its beauty in design. By his benign rule, he kept aloft the torch of Hindu Dharma burning bright under the guidance of all illustrious Madvamatacharya Vyasaraya whose rule as Rajaguru has a legendary flavor although he was very much a historical personage.
