INTRODUCTION |
|
In Padma Purana,
while describing the greatness of devotional songs and of chanting of God's name, it is
said as follows:
Dhyaayan Krite yajan yajnaan
Stretaayaam Dwaparearchayan
Yadaapnoti tadaapnoti
Kalau sankeertya Kesavam.
‘Hare Rama Hare Rama
'Hare Rameti kevalam
Kalau nastyeva, nastyeva
Nastyeva gatiranyathaa.
The name of God expressed in a mystic word is formed by the combination of certain letters
of the alphabet symbolizing the particular characteristic of the God invoked. Thus the
mystic word expressing the name of Lord Krishna is pregnant with the sense of His powers
which are indivisible and inseparable from Him.
