Then
Lord Ranganatha (Vishnu) told him that he was much delighted with the garlands worn by
Goda and the garlands already worn by Goda should thereafter be offered to him. Vishnu
Chitta was relieved of the gloom and realised that Goda was none other than Mahalakshmi.
From that day, he named her Andal, i.e., the Ruler of the entire Universe.
This precocious girl soon developed an insatiable love for Lord Ranganatha. She decided to
have Him alone for her Lord. This was unknown to Vishnu Chitta. As is natural with every
father, Vishnu Chitta tried to seek a suitable bridegroom for Andal. But the idea of her
marriage with a man was repugnant to her. So she requested her father to narrate to her
the leelas of Lord Vishnu presiding over all the one hundred and eight places sacred to
Vaishnavites. |
