MOTHER SARADA OF SRINGERI

But, he was exceedingly shy and disarmingly timid. Never moved in society, much less with anyone of opposite sex. A freak! A bearded revered sage with a horn on head at it; so was appropriately called Rishyasringa. His atomic power was of supreme type that his very presence made the erring elements shudder and ready to do his bidding. Even the planets too were willing to honour his word. The land of his stay used to be Nandanavana, knowing not drought or famine. Subhiksha peace and plenty used to stay with him wherever he went.

It was during then the kingdom of Angas was ruled by Romapada, a powerful Samantha of the Ayodhyapathi Dasaratha; the redoubtable emperor of Kosaldesa. A terrible drought held its grip over his country - no rains for a long period, and famine danced naked.Under the advice of agamic pandits, he decided to invite Rishyasringa to his country; for, it is believed that his presence would bring rains and drive out famine. But he would not move of his ashram. So Romapada entrusted the task of bringing Rishyasinga to his capital to a renowned beauty of the day.She then contrived to build a make-shift hermitage on a boat and lured him into it with her from angelic and music lilting.
