21. MITHILA - UMA DEVI MANDIR
Mother Sati's vamaskanda-right shoulder fell here and the temple built later was
installed with Mother's image called Uma Devi and is popular as Maha Devi. The
sentinel's name is Mahodhara.
The
exact location of this kshetra is not fixed so far, as different upasakas claim
different places such as the village called Vuchchair, lying at distance 48 km
of Janakapur contains many temples and one among them named Ugratara is that
sacred peetha, whereas others contradicting it say that Jayamangala Devi mandir
lying at 10 km off Salena station is that place sanctified by Mother's
shoulder. Visiting and worshipping the Devi confers bliss instead of remaining
indoors till the right place is decided. Wisdom exhorts and action fetches
bliss, says the local.
22. RATNAVALI KUMARI MANDIR
This spot is sanctified by the falling of mother Sati's dakshinaskandha - left
shoulder. The presiding goddess of the mandir built later is called Kumari and
the kshetrapalaka's name is Siva.
It
lies in Saktipanjis, a famous Sakti-Peetha of West Bengal, accessible by four
wheelers.
