KARAVEER - MAHISHA MARDINI MANDIR
Karaveer
is the ancient name for Kolhapur and it is here the Trinetras-three eyes of the
Mother feel, when Sudarsan Chakra split the Mother's corpse. The Mother is
called Mahishamardini in the Tanctric texts and at present is popular as
Mahalakshmi. Krodesh is the temple guardian's name, it is a very famous temple
in the state of Maharastra visited by the commercial people more than the
theists as the Mother according to use is the presiding deity of wealth and
material prosperity. This mandir lies behind Rajmahal of the erstwhile rulers of
Maharastra and Kolhapur served as capital for some time.
It
is a rail head 54 km off Miraj, a principal city of both historic and commercial
importance among the cities of Maharastra.

SUNANDHA - SUNANDHA DEVI MANDIR
Mother
Sati's nasika-nose sanctified this spot, when Mahavishnu's disc out the corpse.
A temple came up and an image named Sunandha was installed. Prayers were offered
according to Tantric injunctions. Thriyambak is the kshetrapalaka of this
shrine. The temple goes by another name-Ugratara, and is very popular in these
parts.
It
lies on the bank of Sunandha about 20 km off Sikharpur village relating to
Barisal. And to reach Barisal, steam boat journey is necessarily to be made from
Khulana railway station in the state of Bengal.
