KASHMIR - MAHAMAYA DEVI MANDIR
It
is here fell Mother Sati's kantha - throat and the snow linga of medium size is
identified as Mother Parvathi called Mahamaya
and it is in the Amarnath cave temple. It is flanked by a big size waxing and
waning snow linga and a small ice linga of Vinayaka. No structure of any kind is
built and all these lingas are waxing and waning in all seasons, since time
immemorial. Thishandheswar is the kshetrapalaka of the hoary temple.
It
lies in Amarnath cave in the state of Kashmir, accessible by bus up to Pahalgam
and the rest by trekking, taking nearly four days.
18. NANDIPUR -
NANDINI DEVI MANDIR
The dazzling diamond necklace adorning Mother Sati fell here and a temple with
Nandini Devi as the presiding deity was built later. Nandikeswar is the kshetrapalaka of this shrine.
It
lies under a banyan tree near Sainidhi, a railway station on the Hawada-Kyullayi
railway line, accessible by bus from the station.
