fact one could argue that organized religion of any type is more
than an obstruction than a help to the real seeker after truth.
Social, political and economic interests easily distort organized
religion. To reach the masses organized religion reduces
spirituality to simplistic beliefs, which however convenient are
spiritually naive and generally socially prejudiced.
To think that
the summum bonum of life could be achieved through mere belief,
prayer or ritual! Look at the long course of evolution of life in
Nature. To think that human beings could accomplish their aim in a
single life through a simple act of conversion without really
working on themselves! What most helps the earnest seeker is a yogic
type teaching that is flexible and adaptable and linked to living
Self-realized teachers, not a religion bound to externalities whose
teaching at a deeper level remains in doubt.
