CHOLANADU  DIVYA TIRUPATHIS

Tirusirupuliyur - Arumakadal Perumal Temple

The legend of Vyagrapada Maharshi's obtaining the divya sakshatkara of Sri Mahavishnu is attributed to this holy pilgrim centre. It is with this Lord's Omni compassion, Vyagrapada turned a great worshipper with a difference. With the special boon of running as fast as tiger to collecting flowers for worship, he occupied a covetable place among the maharshis of great renown. The icon of Moolavar is in reclining posture and it is facing the south. Maharshi Vyagra got the vision of the lord here in this holy spot. The Mother is called by the popular name of Tirumamagal Ammal. And the Vimana is called Nandavardhana. 'Ihere is a temple tank in addition to the legendary Manasa Pushkarini. And both are used for holy bath. Daily worship is offered according to agamas; periodical festivals are conducted with due devotion. Tirumangai Alwar worshipped here and offered Mangalasasan.

It lies very near Mangudi railway station on Tanjore - Villupuram division of Southern Railway and can be reached by walk. It is about 2 km off Mayuvaram, a famous town in Tamilnadu.
