Vinnagaram - Vinnagara Perumal Temple
The
sthalapurana of this ancient kshetra embodies the accounts of Nandikeswar and
emperor Sibi, who were emancipated by the munificent blessings of this Moolavar
called Vinnagara Perumal. He is also known as Nathanatha Perumal and Jagannatha
Perumal. The Goddess is called Champakavalli Tayar. The temple built in the
ancient architectural style possesses Srimantra Vimana. The archamurti is facing
west and is giving darsan in sitting posture. Tirumangai Alwar offered
Mangalasasanam and is
sung with great piety on special occasions. Nityanaimithika worship is offered
with due veneration. It is one of 108 Divya Desams.
It lies near
Kumbhakonam of Tamilnadu, accessible by four wheelers
even from Natchiyar koil.
