Kaulutla
- Channakesavaswamy Aalayam
This
forest temple was made sacrosanct by the penance of Koundinya Maharshi in the
dim past. Later it became very famous and popular as Kaulutlaswamy malai. The
Mulavirat called Kaulitla Channakesavaswamy or Kaulutlaswamy is liberal in
granting boons to the true bhaktas, who visit and offer soulful prayers.
Although built in the midst of thick forest, the frequency of visits by the
adorers is neither waning, nor their prayers are remaining unanswered by the
Lord, The scenic grandeur is its plus point. It has such huge tourist potential
that if rightly tapped at, the influx of visitors grows more, benefiting theists
and tourists all well.
The
temple within its modest dimensions, accommodates all the essential parts. Its
also contains some inscriptions helpful for the fixation of its period and
endowments made by donors. The archamurti Channakesavaswamy is a finely
sculptured granite image pleasant to look, and fit to offer hour long prayers.
His infinite anugrah lifted the saranarthas caught in the maze of difficulties.
Parivaradevathas are installaed in elegantly made mandaps and niches. The
annual festival - Brahmotsav falls in Magha masa, when large number of devotees
congregate and participate in the activities lustily.
It
lies 5 km off Kurnool, the district headquarters town of Andhra Pradesh on the
Kurnool-Ballary highway and command conveyance facilities front both points.
