KRISHNAVTAR  KSHETRAS IN ANDHRA PRADESH

Alemelu Mangapuram - Sri Krishna Aalayam

This legendary Sukapuri made sacrosanct by that great, Sukamaharshi s penance, and consequent his dwelling for long. Tirusukapuri is its ancient name. It is consecrated by the Mother's topple in this yuga, and so its fame is rising with such supersonic speed, that it touched the Mount Everest. All due to Lord Balaji's matchless fame that eludes the range of words. In the vast compound of the Mother's temple there lies Krishna temple buffeted by the Mother Alimelumanga's shrine and shrine. It is indeed an integral part of the Padmavathi temple, but contains garbhagriha, mukhamantap and antarala, flag post etc. The archamurti is called by Alagia Perumal and true to name is infinitely captivating in beauty, size, shape, sheen and splendour. Among the other four icons installed in the garbhagriha, one is that of Lord Krishna seated in the centre in Padmasana pose with both hands in Varada pose. Next to him is seated Balarama, his elder brother. The other two are those of Kaliamardana and Lakshmi Narasimha.

This shrine is the earliest of three now found in the compound and said to have been built by Pokkiran first and developed to the present grandiose state by many patrons including Saluva Narasimharaya of Vijayanagara dynasty.

Regular agamic worship is offered and periodical festivals too are conducted with great eclat due, enjoying TTD's benign administration.

It is 4 km off Sri Govindarajaswamy temple in Tirupati and accessible by bus and four wheelers from bus stand and railway station.
