Mangapuram - Sri Krishna Aalayam
This
legendary Sukapuri made sacrosanct by that great, Sukamaharshi s penance, and
consequent his dwelling for long. Tirusukapuri is its ancient name. It is
consecrated by the Mother's topple in this yuga, and so its fame is rising with
such supersonic speed, that it touched the Mount Everest. All due to Lord
Balaji's matchless fame that eludes the range of words. In the vast compound of
the Mother's temple there lies Krishna temple buffeted by the Mother
Alimelumanga's shrine and shrine. It is indeed an integral part of the
Padmavathi temple, but contains garbhagriha, mukhamantap and antarala, flag post
etc. The archamurti is called by Alagia Perumal and true to name is infinitely
captivating in beauty, size, shape, sheen and splendour. Among the other four
icons installed in the garbhagriha, one is that of Lord Krishna seated in the
centre in Padmasana pose with both hands in Varada pose. Next to him is seated
Balarama, his elder brother. The other two are those of Kaliamardana and Lakshmi
Narasimha.
This
shrine is the earliest of three now found in the compound and said to have been
built by Pokkiran first and developed to the present grandiose state by many
patrons including Saluva Narasimharaya of Vijayanagara dynasty.
Regular
agamic worship is offered and periodical festivals too are conducted with great
eclat due, enjoying TTD's benign administration.
It
is 4 km off Sri Govindarajaswamy temple in Tirupati and accessible by bus and
four wheelers from bus stand and railway station.
