Kanipakkam - Perumal Aalayam

This popular Vinayaka kshetra located in a little village claims the honour of housing one ancient Sivaalaya called Manikanteswaralaya and another Perumal koil lying adjacent to Sajiva Pratyaksha Dharmamurti Pillayarappa. It is modest in dimensions yet possesses a compound, garbhagriha, mukha mandap, mahamandap, pradakshana marga etc. The granite icon of the Lord in standing posture installed in the garbhagriha is quite attractive and the floral decoration heightens its grandeur. It is almost in ruins needing immediate renovation, yet regular ritualistic worship is offered with veneration due. Annual functions too are celebrated without much ostentation within the small budget of the temple.

It lies 12 km off Chittoor, the headquarters town of Andhra Pradesh and accessible by APSRTC buses running from bus stand regularly, every half an hour.
