Samalkota
- Mandavya Narayanaswamy Aalayam
This much-renowned Saiva kshetra contains in its sanctum itself a famous
separate Vaishnava temple dedicated to Sri Mandavya Narayanaswamy. Though
built in the vast prakara of Iihimeswaraswamy aalaya, it is an independent temple
possessing all the necessary component parts, like garbhagriha, mukhamandap etc.
'The sculptural wealth of this shrine is very great and reflects the refined taste of the
builders. All the images installed both in the innermost sanctum and outside reflect
the superb artistry of the sculptors. Connoisseurs of art see every piece with
microscopic eyes and extol the glory of the sculptors. The Mulavirat is Chaturbhuja
Mahavishnu holding in His three hands Sanku, Chakra and Gada and the fourth -
the lower right hand revealing Abhayamudra. Despite placed in a reputed
Sivaalaya,
his glory is neither eclipsed, nor granting boons is withheld. Whoever prays ardently
transcending sectarian barriers, he blesses them with the fulfilment of desires.
Agamic puja is conducted regularly and periodical festivals with devotional fervor
due.
It lies in Samalkot town just one kilometer off the railway station,
accessible by autos and cycle rickshaws from bus stand and railway station.
