Chilakalapudi
- Panduranga Aalayam
Kira Pandarikshetra was the ancient name of this reputed, Vaishnava kshetra that
established a great name among the temples of this territory. It shares some of
the much-cherished traditions of Pandarpur, for which alone its fame perched on
the highest point in the temple history of our Punya Bharat. 'lhe holy icon is
said to be swayambhu and installed on the same model as at Pandarpur. Moreover,
all the devotees touch the sacrosanct feet of the lord as done at the reputed
Panduranga Vittal temple. The sculpture here also bears striking resemblance to
Pandarpur temple. Hence the setting up of the statues of the much revered Vittal
bhaktas, like Namadev, Tukaram etc. in the mukhamandap itself. the architectural
style is quite alluring with several mandaps, like Sejara mandap, Garuda mandap,
besides the usual mukha and mahamandaps. It is an exact prototype of Pandarpur
temple in every respect. There are some more mandirs here like Rukmabai, lakshmi
and Prasannanarayana in the campus. The Sthala vriksha - Aswartha is unusually
tall and worshipped devoutly. The Brahmotsav falling Ashada masa and Vithal
namapuja in Karthika masa are celebrated on a grand scale with lakhs of people
coming from far off places.
It
lies 60 km of Vijayawada, the second capital of Andhra Pradesh connected by all
kinds of transport facilities.
