- Venugopalaswamy Aalayam
This
ancient Vaishnava temple enshrining the charming archamurti of Venugopalaswamy
commands certain plus points that set it apart from the rest of the temples in
the surrounding area. Its location amidst the bounteous beauty of Nature is its
special point for attraction. Added to it, its antiquity and celebration of
annual festivals on a grand scale are heightening its glory, besides luring huge
crowds throughout the year. It is fairly a big temple with a strong prakara and
a broad mahadwara adorned with an elegant tower. The courtyards are vast and
contain many mini-shrines for parivaradtwathas. The garbhagriha is quite
extensive and the
archamurti in standing po-sture with flute in his hands lifts the souls and
wrings veneration. Agamic worship is offered daily and the annual car festival
celebrated with great gusto is drawing lakhs of people from far and near. And it
lasts for a week.
It
lies 15 km off Madanapalli of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, commanding
bus facilities. Its vicinity to the famous Rishi Valley educational institution
is its additional point for its rising spiritual eminence.
