Thotlavallur
- Sri Venugopalaswamy Aalayam
During
the early eighteenth century, this Venugopalaswamy kshetra reached the pinnacle
of glory due to liberal patronage by the feudal lords of this region. According
to local version, this much-revered and irresistibly enchanting Venugopalaswamy
icon was found in a well, in the past, and a befitting temple was built in the
same year by people with lavish donations and liberal endowments by the
philanthropists of great repute. As the Lord demonstrated his sports for
liberation of the deserving devotees, its eminence started rising higher and
when it came under the benign management of one pious Yedla Nagamma Naidu, it
perched at the highest place worthy of emulation. The temple contains in its
vast well-built mandaps and niches several adorable images, like Godadevi,
Anjaneya etc. The granite icon of archamurti Venugopalaswamy flanked by Rukmini
and Satyabhama feasts the visitors and emancipates them suitably. Agamic puja
and periodical festivals are carried on with great devotional fervor.
It
lies in Andhra Pradesh and accessible by bus.
