KRISHNAVTAR  KSHETRAS IN ANDHRA PRADESH

Narva - Venugopalaswamy Aalayam

Narva, the mandalam headquarters town of Alampur taluq of Palamur district of Andhra Pradesh claims the honour of possessing many ancient temple, and among them the Venugopalaswamy Aalayam is considered the best. As its attraction is great, the periodicity of visits by the devotees is decidedly greater. This lies to the north-west of the town and boasts of superb sculpture. The two-foothigh Vet,gopalaswamy icon installed in the garbhagriha is masterly sculptured and casts spell with its posture and polish. He is Chaturbhuja holding in his chakra and sankhu in left and right hands, and his choicest inseparable flute in the remaining two hands. The image of a beautiful cow standing behind and licking his holy feet is an enchanting sight heightening the alluring form and posture of the archamurti. Among the annual festivals, Gokulashtami is celebrated on a grand scale with pomp and splendour when huge crowds visit and offer prayers.

It lies in the small town Narva of Atmakur taluq of Palamur district of Andhra Pradesh, connected by bus service from the leading nearby towns.
